Software Engineer
1. Location
Simsbury, CT
Regular travel is not expected for this position, but travel may be required from time to time to participate in meetings at other offices or for other occasional business purposes.
2. Purpose of Position
This position will be responsible for developing GUI, web and other software on a leading embedded platform involved in the fuel management industry.
3. Key Responsibilities
Design, develop and test embedded software, GUI and Web pages
Participate in an Agile/Scrum team and provide analysis and participate in process improvement activities towards releasing the highest quality, world class software on time
Other duties as assigned by Manager.
4. Relationships
This position reports directly to the Supervisor of Software Engineering
Daily interaction with members of the software development team.
Daily interaction with members of the remote software development team.
Daily interaction with members of the software quality assurance team.
Daily interaction with project management and other related departments

1. Background and Skills
B.S. Degree in Computer Science or equivalent required, MS degree a plus.
Minimum of 3 - 5 years of experience in software development required
Experience in commercial software development, especially in embedded systems and/or GUI/Web interfaces required
Strong knowledge in GUI development with the Qt framework and Web development with GWT required.
Strong knowledge in the programming language C required.
Proficiency with GCC compiler required
Proficiency with multi-threaded development required.
Proficiency with Agile/Scrum software methodologies required.
Proficiency with the Boost library and Linux for an embedded target a plus
Proficiency with CORBA, SOAP and XML a plus
Proficiency with AJAX and HTML5 a plus
Proficiency in the programming language Java a plus
Ability to quickly prototype UI designs a plus
Proficiency with Subversion preferred.
